Los Angeles, CA – Spoken-Word/Hip-Hop artist Ekil Nottoc is pushing the boundaries of hip-hop with his new album “Rhythmetric Poetry.”
It ushers the listener into a strange and hypnotic brand of hip-hop that isn’t built off the standard, mainstream template. Distinctive lyrical traits are uttered within a soundscape crafted from stark beat formations, dark techno-inspired grooves and atmosphere that arises, paradoxically, from the Spartan aural construct. Shockingly original. Ekil Nottoc evolves from hip-hop’s traditions; introducing a new architecture to the--to the genre’s skyline.
“Mystify” is the lead single from Ekil Nottoc's recent CD. Aptly titled, the song is a tribute to the female mind and body, offering “respect to the beauty of a female that captivates a male’s imagination,” he explains. The song reflects Ekil Nottoc’s fusion and reimagining of blues, jazz, spoken word, hip-hop and R&B. The ability to coalesce styles into one and create a new musical creature, as demonstrated on “Mystify,” opens the mind of the listener in preparation for the unique journey of “Rhythmetric Poetry.”
Ekil Nottoc has been writing and arranging music since 1987 in Cleveland, MS. He performed as part of local hip-hop groups, including MC Static and Def T, TrueSpirit and Tribe of B-N-A.

Grandson of a sharecropper-Son of a bluesman-Son of a frontrunner mother (who instilled a positive slashing the negatives) that stem from the MS Delta and migrated to Atlanta, GA. The musical combination reflects Blues, Jazz, Spoken-Word, R&B, & Hip-Hop styles that tango in subtleness.
